Children ages 6-12 are invited to join us for a Summer of Nature and Fun at Summer Nature Camp 2009. Camp hours are Monday through Friday, from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm. There are seven weekly sessions to choose from. (see dates/descriptions below)
Nature Camp Rates: $150/week/child
Campers bring their own lunch and drink each day; dress comfortably for the outdoors.
The Cibolo Nature Center is the ideal location for a summertime outdoor adventure. It is a beautiful place where children can explore, observe, and investigate our natural world. Many of the activities encourage an awareness and appreciation of our environment. There are also traditional camp activities such as games, crafts, skits, silly songs, and special guests.
Session 1: June 8-12: Predators and Their Prey How do animals survive in the wild? Some have sharp teeth and claws. Others can blend into their world to avoid detection. Survival is what it is all about and we will show you how nature makes it work.
Session 2: June 15-19: Rowdy Reptiles
Snakes alive! Snakes are just a part of what we will discover during this rowdy week of camp. What do they eat? Where do they live? Ever go on a snake hunt? You never know what you might find. Come and have a sssssuper good time!
Session 3: June 22-26: Nature Trackers
Nature is everywhere here at the CNC. In the water, on the ground and in the trees! Get ready to explore nature like never before and become an official Nature Tracker!
Session 4: July 06-10: Cibolo Explorers
We will explore the Cibolo Creek so get ready to get wet! Just how far does the Cibolo go? Come find out during this camp adventure into the farthest corners of the Cibolo Nature Center. Adventure awaits you along with lots of fun!
Session 5: July 13-17: Native American Adventures
The Cibolo Nature Center and Cibolo Creek is rich in Native American history. This week is all about Native Americans, totem poles, tee-pees and pow-wows. We will put on our best war paint and then go on a Buffalo hunt!
Session 6: July 20-24: Wonders of Nature
Explore nature using the senses. Ever go on a blind hike? Grab your hiking sticks and let's head out! Let's explore what you can hear, see, taste, touch and smell in the great outdoors!
Session 7: July 27-31: Water World!
This week is all about water whether we are getting wet at the creek or from an exploding water balloon! We will beat the heat and stay cool and learn a little about weather during this wet and wild time at camp.
