Gardening 101: Herbs

Herff Farm | 2:00pm-4:00pm

Farmer's Market, Learn

Join Keith Amelung of Have Spade Will Travel this Saturday and every 3rd Saturday after the Farmer’s Market at Herff Farm for an introduction to the “basics” of veggie gardening in the Texas Hill Country. We will cover the “how to get started” in a quick 1-hour presentation followed by a Q&A and a seasonal hands-on project.

Basil, lavender, rosemary, sage, thyme…the list goes on and on. Most are fairly easy if you know a few tricks. Either in the ground or in containers, their flavors, fragrance and beauty make these plants not just additions, but centerpieces to the well planned vegetable garden. Interactive: Each attendee will pot up their own basil to take home and together we will set out an assortment of tasty and fragrant beauties in the Children’s Garden at the Herff Farm.

Also:
May 15 – Okra
June 19 – Peppers
July 17 – Pollinators
August 21 – Invertebrate and Disease Management
September 18 – Preparing for the Fall
October 26 – Winterize Your Garden
November 20 – Container Gardening in Winter
(these course subjects will be added to our calendar shortly)
