Experiences
Join us to learn about restoring and stewarding grassland prairie fields.
Many grasslands in the Texas Hill Country have been badly degraded by poor stewardship over the years. Fortunately, there are land restoration strategies that can be applied to increase the diversity and abundance of wildlife on the land.
This workshop will cover land stewardship practices, including removal of invasive plants, preparation of old fields for restoration, as well as selection and sourcing of native seeds. You will also learn about grants and programs available to assist with land restoration.
Attendees will hear from regional experts in land restoration, including:
Bill Niemann, Owner of Native American Seed Company
George Cates, Restoration Specialist at Native American Seed Company
Rufus Stephens, Ecologist and author of Attracting Birds in the Texas Hill Country
Will Newman, Farm Bill Coordinator at Texas Parks & Wildlife
Ben Eldredge, Director of Land Stewardship at the Cibolo Center for Conservation
