From Seed to Your Table

Get ready to get your hands dirty, get some sunshine in the open air, and learn how to grow food, flowers, and herbs. Our homeschool classes combine academic with hands-on gardening at the historic Herff Farm. Each week will include a garden-based lesson with Maura Bobbitt, our Farm Programs Coordinator, and time to garden in your own 4’ x 20’ adopted garden bed, supported by our farm staff.

Organic gardening and sustainable living means understanding our place within the larger ecosystem, and so we’ll cover a wide range of topics such as soil and plant biology, organic gardening methods, garden design and planning, decomposers and composting, and culinary and medicinal uses of the plants we grow. Course tuition includes an opportunity to sell products you have grown at the Farmers Market at Herff Farm.
