Trailblazers

Join a legacy of youth taking action to make a difference in their community.

Trailblazers is a program for students ages 13-17 interested in environmental conservation. They will explore volunteer opportunities, career paths, public speaking, and be in a supportive community of like-minded individuals at the Cibolo Center for Conservation. This is a hands-on program, so students can expect to be outdoors and be active!

Trailblazers will meet up to 3 times a month from February to May. Meetings will be on Saturdays, except for one Friday evening in February. At each meeting students will learn about the variety of ways the Cibolo helps in conservation, how they can be a part of that mission, and how they can help outside of the Cibolo, all while engaging in hands-on projects. Students can receive up to 30 hours of community service for participating in this program.

TRAILBLAZERS PROJECTS CAN INCLUDE:

  • Removal of invasive plants
  • Restoration of land impacted by human traffic
  • Guided nature hikes
  • Presentations to the public at the Farmers Market at Herff Farm
  • Meeting with professionals in related fields
  • Offsite field trips
  • Movie night

Trailblazers first meeting is Saturday, February 4th at 9:00m at the Cibolo Nature Center.

$25 Trailblazer Membership due on your first day participating in the program.
