Lead Counselor
The Lead Counselor position is a paid position that will oversee Junior Counselors, Counselors-in-Training (C.I.Ts.), and campers ages 5-12.
Experience required

Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain emphasis on camp safety as a top priority. Full knowledge of safety management plan and emergency protocol.
- Certification and training in basic first aid and CPR will be provided.
- Provide a positive role model for campers and counselors.
- Directly Supervise up to two Junior Counselors, up to four CITs, and up to fifteen campers each week.
- Manage group (pod) schedules as set by Camp Directors.
- Exhibit high energy and maintain a strong camp spirit.
- Serve as a communication channel between children, adults (parents), and Cibolo Center for Conservation staff.
- Work closely with the Camp Directors to help maintain camp organization, safety, enthusiasm, and commitment to the Cibolo camp mission.
- Being familiar with the Cibolo Nature Center, Herff Farm, and park facilities.
- Attend planning meetings as needed.
- Facilitates camp activities as needed – encourages junior counselors to lead activities whenever possible.
- Supports camp promotion efforts through Cibolo Center for Conservation and community events.
- Maintains an appropriate public profile that supports and promotes volunteer participation, the Cibolo Center for Conservation, and its mission.
Qualifications
- Must be 18 years old or older
- Reliable transportation is required
- Previous experience working in a camp environment or childcare is required
- Demonstrated responsibility and management of multiple people and activities
Junior Counselor
The Junior Counselor position is a paid position and second in command in charge of camper groups.

$10/hour
Duties & Responsibilities
- Gain knowledge in camp safety plan and emergency protocol.
- Be responsible for up to 12 youth campers from the time the campers arrive in the morning at 9:00 a.m. until they are seen leaving camp for the day with the authorized pick up in the afternoon.
- Certification and training in basic first aid and CPR will be provided.
- Act as mentors and role models to all campers and CITs.
- Work with camp administration to support a safe and successful camp environment.
- Meet with the unit manager as needed by the unit manager.
- Maintain documentation as requested by Camp Directors.
- Provide a safe and friendly experience for all children at camp with the goal to always foster friendship and respect towards each other and the environment.
- Notify Unit Manager immediately if there is a health problem or concern regarding a camper.
- Attend camp meetings.
- Facilitate and participate in daily camp activities with the campers with a focus on environmental awareness and stewardship.
- Coordinate daily camp activities with your Unit Manager and CITs.
- Maintain an appropriate public profile that supports and promotes the Cibolo Center for Conservation and its mission.
- Perform camp duties as requested by the Unit Manager and Camp Directors.
Qualifications
- Must be between 15 to 18 years old
- Enjoy working with children ages 5-12 years of age
- Have a general love of nature.
- Have Patience, flexibility and high energy
- Demonstrated responsibility in overseeing young children
- Reliable transportation is required
Counselor in Training
The counselor in training position is a volunteer position that provides on-the-job counselor training. All volunteer hours can be applied to service-learning requirements for schools, scouts, or other organizations.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Certification and training in basic first aid and CPR will be provided
- Assists with nature-related programs for the children in your group with a focus on environmental education and stewardship
- Provides a safe and friendly experience for all children in the camp with a focus on fostering friendship and respect for each other and the environment
- Knows where each child is in your group at all times during the day
- Notifies the Junior Counselor/Lead Counselor immediately if there is a health problem or concern regarding a camper
- Attends daily meetings
- Facilitates and participates in daily camp activities with the campers
- Helps campers who are having problems fitting into the group
- Maintains an appropriate public profile that supports and promotes volunteer participation, the Cibolo Center for Conservation, and its mission.
- Performs other duties as requested by Junior Counselors/Lead Counselors.
- Exhibits leadership, high energy, and the spirit of camp for all campers and other CITs to follow
- Be present and on time to camp during the committed work week and always be willing to ask questions and learn how to be the best you can be
Qualifications
- You must be ages 13-15 years old
