2022 Spring Break Camp at the Cibolo

By Jasmine Torrez

This March, we are excited to host our annual 3-day Spring Break Camp at the Cibolo, where children can connect with nature while learning and exploring the 160-acres of the Cibolo Nature Center and Herff Farm.

Children have spent so much of their time indoors this school year, and we believe nature provides the perfect setting for them to have fun outdoors while discovering their inner scientist, wild thing, or explorer.  Whatever your camper dreams of being, we would love to help them find their path! Our camp combines outdoor recreation, science-based experiments, and adventure to keep every child creating and learning while on break.

Not only will they get outside and away from technology, but so many of this year’s activities will require them to think outside the box. We will have hands-on and interactive experiences while enjoying the crisp air of the Cibolo among the trees and without any other kinds of distractions.

Our 3-day camp may seem short, but each day provides a different themed activity urging children to channel their creativity while connecting with nature and their fellow campers.

Monday is Community Scientist Day, where campers will explore nature while learning to protect and develop habitats for various species in the five ecosystems that make up the Cibolo Nature Center and Herff Farm. We will use technology to identify and observe plants and animals and may even meet a new slithery friend while we learn.

Tuesday is Wonders of Wildlife Day, where we take a deeper look into the life and environment of plants and animals! We will learn about various animals that call the Cibolo home and identify tracks and scats they leave behind. Campers will also learn about adaptations through a mystery box scavenger hunt!

We are excited to announce a brand-new activity on the last day of spring break camp! We complete the camp experience with a giant interactive game of “Candy Land,” Cibolo style! While exploring the Cibolo, campers will spin the wheel to discover their next adventure and challenges await. Campers will learn survival skills at each activity stop and fun facts about things like how trees use water and more.

Consider attending our camp if you are looking for a great way to keep your child learning, active, and engaged over the Spring Break holiday.  Camps are open to children ages 5-12 and run from 9 am-1:30 pm each day and cost $190 per camper. Become a Member of the Cibolo to receive a special $15 discount on camp registration fees. Visit Cibolo.org/springbreakcamp to learn more about this great program.
