Our homeschool program is an opportunity for local homeschool students to enhance their existing studies and incorporate experiential, hands-on lessons on conservation here at The Cibolo. From birdwatching to growing their own plants in the Teaching Garden, homeschoolers aged 5-12 get to embark on fun and engaging outdoor adventures while exploring the nature center and Herff Farm.

Homeschool Program Spring 2026

This spring semester, our homeschool program is diving into the theme of Nature Sleuths at the Cibolo Nature Center and hands-on science, art, and gardening classes at Herff Farm.

Nature Sleuths invites students to solve nature’s mysteries through observation, questioning, and investigation. Each week, homeschoolers will explore a new line of inquiry, building critical thinking skills while deepening their connection to the natural world. This inquiry-based approach supports nature education while strengthening curiosity, collaboration, and communication.

At Herff Farm, homeschoolers will engage in hands-on experiences that blend science, sustainability, and creativity. Each class connects students to natural systems through gardening, art, and environmental stewardship while fostering problem solving, cooperation, and a deeper appreciation for how people and nature work together.

We’re enrolling 30 homeschoolers, ages 5–12, for a dynamic program featuring 10 sessions from February 11 – April 22, 2026. Classes will alternate between the Cibolo Nature Center and Herff Farm, giving students hands-on experiences in two incredible learning environments. No class on March 11 during spring break.
