As the days get longer and the flowers start to bloom, that means summer is just around the corner.  Summer in Boerne is synonymous with the Moondance Outdoor Concert Series at the Cibolo Nature Center.

On the Saturday closest to the full moon from May through October, the Cibolo brings the community together to dance under the stars and listen to live music in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Bring your lawn chairs, coolers, and a picnic to the Oak Motte, and get ready for a beautiful summer.  See our calendar on Cibolo.org. The first Moondance is this Saturday (5/29) and features the Almost Patsy Cline Band, a favorite from previous Moondances that is sure to play some of your favorite tunes.

Next month’s Moondance features Britt Ballenger, our local Texas Country favorite, on June 24th.  His musical accomplishments include opening shows for the likes of Ray Price, The Texas Playboys, Gene Watson, Hank Thompson, Collin Raye, Steve Wariner, John Michael Montgomery, Aaron Watson, Gary P. Nunn, Roger Creager, and Parker McCollum.

Keep those dancing shoes handy for our show on July 24th, when we welcome the Dirty Rotten Swingband.  This band is a new project spearheaded by Theresa Britt, who has developed her own diverse setlist that includes jazz standards and blues.  Come ready to dance and sing along to some old favorites.

On August 21st, the Cibolo is excited to host Big Cedar Fever, a western swing band based out of Austin. Their beautiful harmonies and tight arrangements are sure to get your feet tapping.  The trio includes Georgia Parker on jazz-box guitar, Ian Lee on fiddle, and Nick Lochman on the upright bass.

We will then welcome Blake Torrey to the stage on September 18th. Torrey is a country singer-songwriter from Central Texas. His debut EP, Toast to the Stars, is set for release on June 30.  The new release features three songs written by Torrey and his first radio single, “Last Night.”

The last concert of the year on October 23 features longtime favorite The Lost Mule Band.  Their eclectic mix of traditional country, classic rock ‘n’ roll, blues, and Texas swing will close out this year’s series with a bang that is sure to have something for everyone.

The Moondance Outdoor Concert Series would not be possible without the generous support of Frost Bank, The Boerne Star, and The Brandon Fund.  This time-honored tradition began as a memorial for Brandon Gallagher-Manning, who died tragically in a car accident on IH-10 in 2001.  Since then, his love of music and camaraderie has continued at the Cibolo Nature Center, where we gather every year to support and enjoy local musicians.

We will have food trucks on-site, and you are welcome to bring picnics and coolers as well.  Admission to the series is $15 for non-members, $10 for members, and $5 for students.  Children are free.  Tickets will also be available at the door. For more information, please visit cibolo.org.
